What is Latisse?

LATISSE® is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. Latisse results have confirmed its effectiveness, and Latisse is the first and the only FDA-approved medication to treat people with the problem of hypotrichosis, a condition where people have far too few eyelashes.

Latisse eyelash application gives the users eyelashes that are fuller, longer, thicker, darker, and more luscious. It is sold with a sterile and disposable applicator. The Latisse solution contains an active ingredient called “Bimatoprost” that is well known for its ability to enhance lash growth. It is an FDA-approved drug that was earlier used to treat eye conditions like glaucoma and also to manage ocular pressure.

Latisse FAQs

The FDA says Latisse is safe and effective when appropriately prescribed and used as directed. Some people should not use Latisse, like pregnant or breastfeeding women, or patients with certain eye infections or recent eye surgeries.
Eyelashes will not grow overnight. It will take 16 weeks or 4 months to see the full effect of Latisse. Most patients report an increase in eyelash length at 4 weeks. Increased darkness and fullness are typically seen at week 8. Continuing with the treatment past week 8 usually results in larger, fuller, thicker, and darker eyelashes.
Do not use LATISSE® if you are allergic to one of its ingredients. If you use/used prescription products for eye pressure problems, use LATISSE® under doctor care. May cause brown darkening of the colored part of the eye which is likely permanent. LATISSE® may cause eyelid skin darkening which may be reversible. Only apply at the base of the upper lashes. DO NOT APPLY to lower lid. Hair may grow outside the treatment area. If you have eye problems/surgery, consult your doctor. Common side effects include itchy and red eyes. If discontinued, lashes gradually return to previous appearance. These are not all the possible side effects of LATISSE®. For more information, please schedule an appointment with Dr. French.
